About this program
Creekside Discovery Centre is a pioneering urban wildlife charity located in southeast London, dedicated to protecting and enhancing rare river and wild habitats. Operating along Deptford Creek, a tributary of the River Thames, the Centre offers direct access to a vibrant urban ecosystem where wildflowers grow, eels migrate, and kingfishers can be spotted amidst the city landscape. For 25 years, Creekside has championed conservation, education, and community engagement, aiming to inspire connections with urban nature. The Centre features unique eco-heritage elements, including a rare brownfield landscape, a brown living roof, and natural sloping banks leading to the foreshore. Over 300 species of wildflowers have been recorded on the site, making it one of London’s most biodiverse areas for its size. Creekside collaborates with conservationists, planners, and local communities to share expertise in biodiversity and sustainable land management within urban spaces.
