About this program
Foothills Forest School, located in the Diablo foothills of Walnut Creek, CA, is dedicated to nurturing the whole child through hands-on, outdoor learning and fostering a deep relationship with nature. Their program is rooted in the Forest School educational approach, which is child-led, holistic, and held 100% outdoors. The school emphasizes the importance of play-based, whole-child learning—nourishing physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and linguistic development. Classes are conducted outside every day regardless of weather, except in extreme conditions. Children are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and connect deeply with their surroundings. Founding teacher Rebecca and her team bring extensive experience in early childhood education, child development, and nature-based teaching, providing a safe, supportive, and adventurous learning environment.
