About this program
Since 1981, Hawaii Nature Center has been dedicated to inspiring Hawaii’s next generation of environmental stewards on O‘ahu and Maui. As a local, independent nonprofit, they serve over 20,000 students annually through hands-on environmental education experiences. Their mission is to foster awareness, appreciation, understanding, and stewardship of Hawaii’s environment by educating children with an interactive and immersive approach. Hawaii Nature Center is not open to the general public, but offers a variety of regularly scheduled camps, field trips, and homeschool programs at their O‘ahu campus and various locations on Maui, designed to connect keiki with the islands’ unique natural wonders. With a focus on providing more green time and less screen time, Hawaii Nature Center empowers children to build confidence, curiosity, and environmental responsibility. Their homegrown, science-based programming meets State of Hawaii Department of Education standards and is supported by a dedicated team of environmental educators and community volunteers. Families interested in participating should contact the provider for current program schedules and availability. (Source: hawaiinaturecenter.org/about-us, hawaiinaturecenter.org)
