About this program
Iver Environment Centre is a 2.4-acre educational oasis located in the Colne Valley between Uxbridge and Slough. Managed by Groundwork South, a registered charity, the centre has been connecting people to nature since 1990. Visitors can explore a variety of gardens, including a poly tunnel rainforest, orchard, woodland area with a fire pit, two allotments, and a sensory garden. Facilities have grown to include two classrooms, a full-sized kitchen, accessible ramps, and a children’s toilet block, all developed with support from local volunteers and businesses. The centre’s mission is to inspire people of all ages and abilities to engage with and learn about the natural world. Activities and education sessions are designed to get families exploring and reconnecting with nature in a safe, welcoming environment. The centre holds a Learning Outside the Classroom Badge, recognising its commitment to quality educational experiences and effective risk management.
