About this program
LA Nature Kids is a nature-based education program in Santa Monica, California, offering an immersive outdoor learning experience for young children. The program's philosophy centers on the belief that children belong in nature, where their senses awaken and their imaginations flourish through unstructured free play and inquiry-based learning. Inspired by the Forest School curriculum model, the program provides a truly formative experience that children carry with them long after participation. The school's classroom is the natural environment itself—the Santa Monica Mountains, local forests, canyons, and the beaches of Santa Monica and Malibu. Children visit a new location each day, engaging in creative experiences, cooperative learning, and hands-on adventures. The program serves families throughout West Los Angeles, with pick-up and drop-off at Clover Park in Santa Monica. Core teachers bring extensive experience from traditional, progressive, and Reggio Emilia-inspired schools, creating a unique blend of structured learning and wild exploration.
