About this program
Little Ferns Nature Program at the Weinberg Nature Center offers nature immersion and play-based early education following the European forest school tradition. Children spend at least 75% of their time outdoors, engaging with the natural world and animals, which supports the development of STEAM, language arts, social, and emotional skills. The goal is to foster individuality, confidence, a sense of belonging, and lifelong well-being in nature through both academic learning and age-appropriate developmental experiences. The program is directed by experienced educators with backgrounds in education, conservation biology, and early childhood teaching. Daily activities include hikes in a 700-acre woods, exploration, and cooperative play in small and whole-group settings. Little Ferns is not an accredited preschool or licensed childcare provider, and is not legally affiliated with any school. (Source: https://weinbergnaturecenter.org/nature-pre-school)
