About this program
The Awen Project is pioneering a new model for learning environments in the United Kingdom, where young people are championed to be themselves and follow their passions as active participants in a democratic community. Founded in 2019, the organization works with families to co-construct small, free-to-attend learning communities run by the students themselves. The project holds ethics of excellence, entrepreneurialism, and deep creativity at its core. Following the most up-to-date research on how humans learn, each Awen Learning Community independently reflects the needs of its community, geography, and future job markets. The Awen Project is the only free-to-attend educational setting of this kind in the UK, relying on fundraising and donations to maintain operations and accessibility for all families.
