About this program
Costa Verde International School (CVIS) is an ecological, community-oriented bilingual private school located in Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico—a beautiful beach town nestled at the foot of the Sierra Madres, just 45 minutes northwest of Puerto Vallarta. Founded in 2008 by a group of local parents seeking quality education without long commutes through winding jungle roads, the school was established as an "asociación civil" (similar to a non-profit) to ensure all profits return directly to education. What makes CVIS unique is its dual immersion approach combined with strong ecological values and community commitment. The school provides intellectually stimulating, student-centered education with small class sizes and hands-on instruction. The mission extends beyond academics to include sustainability education, connection to local culture and environment through beach clean-ups, gardening, farmers' market participation, and field studies. Currently serving approximately 160 students, the school maintains a diverse population with 45% international students (primarily American and Canadian) and 55% local Mexican students, creating a truly multicultural learning environment.
