About this program
Heartwood Nature Programs is a locally-run 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Kenmore, Washington, dedicated to connecting youth and families to nature through outdoor education. Operating primarily out of Saint Edward State Park's 316-acre outdoor classroom, the organization serves families throughout the Greater Seattle area, including Kirkland, Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville, Lake Forest Park, and surrounding communities. The program's philosophy centers on three core values: mindfulness, stewardship, and connection. Through nature sit-spots, reflection, and integrated yoga practices, participants develop a gentle, focused awareness of the present moment. Heartwood grounds its approach in the belief that not only do children need nature, but nature needs them, fostering the next generation of environmental stewards. The organization's mission emphasizes creating lifelong stewards of nature and mindful humans who contribute to the greater good of the planet and themselves.
