About this program
Journey Nature School (JNS) is a child-centered, secular educational experience in Logan County, Ohio, designed for families seeking a nature-immersive approach to learning. Founded in 2020, JNS nurtures strength in expression, self-confidence, and lifelong learning by emphasizing connection to nature, social justice, and respectful custodianship. The program operates in natural settings, including the 278-acre Kirkmont Center and, beginning in spring 2026, privately owned land in Bellefontaine. JNS prioritizes diverse literature, mindful existence in nature, and practice in social conflict resolution. Families and students get to experience academic integration through outdoor experiences that encourage social, psychological, and academic growth. The school is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
