Mulberry Lane is a supervised play cafe concept designed to give parents a much-needed break while their children explore, create, and connect in a safe, engaging environment. With two locations in the Washington DC metro area—Del Ray in Alexandria, Virginia and The Roost in Southeast DC—Mulberry Lane combines thoughtfully designed play spaces with adjacent dining and social options. The concept was built by real parents who understand the challenge of balancing family time with personal needs. Kids enjoy open-ended play areas, imaginative role-play zones, and creative activities, while parents can relax in the lounge, work at the adjacent Goldfinch Social coworking space, or enjoy nearby restaurants and bars. Staff are caring, background-checked individuals trained in safety and first aid who guide play and ensure everyone is having fun. What sets Mulberry Lane apart is its integration with the local community. The Del Ray location sits amid a "Culinary Campus" featuring Evening Star, HiFi Tex Mex BBQ, Planet Wine, and Shorty's Deluxe, while the DC location is part of The Roost food hall—giving families the freedom to enjoy adult spaces knowing their children are safely supervised nearby.
