About this program
Punta La Barca is an intercultural coliving community located on an authentic hidden beach in Santa Marianita, Ecuador. Founded in 2015 by a Belgian-Ecuadorean family, it has grown into a vibrant space where long-term travelers, digital nomads, worldschoolers, and locals come together to live authentically and reconnect with the world. The community sits on Ecuador's stunning Pacific coast, offering deserted beaches, kitesurfing among humpback whales, and breathtaking ocean views. Unlike typical tourist accommodations, Punta La Barca operates as a genuine intercultural project that connects cultures toward free, fair, and sustainable living. The founders—Inge, Juan, and their children—live semi-nomadically between Belgium and Ecuador, bringing together the beauty of both cultures. Extended local family members help run the space, making it an authentic part of the village rather than a tourist bubble. All gains support the local community.
