About this program
Toronto Nature School is an award-winning alternative education program that provides unique, immersive nature-based learning experiences for children in Toronto. Founded in 2020 by Julia Donnelly O'Neill, a certified teacher with specialization in outdoor learning and play, the school has grown into a thriving alternative education option. Based on the Forest School movement, Toronto Nature School uses both the waterfront and Glen Stewart Ravine as outdoor classrooms, with a Queen Street East headquarters serving as the home base. The school won the Toronto Star Readers' Choice awards 2024 for Best Private School. Located in the heart of the Beaches neighbourhood, the school's mission is to connect children and their families with all the benefits of outdoor education while instilling an appreciation for the natural world and a lifelong love of the great outdoors.
