About this program
Whole Earth Nature School, based in Eugene, Oregon, was founded in 2009 to provide immersive, hands-on nature experiences for youth. Their mission centers on fostering confidence, resilience, and a kinship with nature through personalized outdoor mentorship. The school emphasizes interactive learning—like fire making, wildcrafting, and themed storytelling—to help students thrive, celebrate diversity, and deepen their relationship with the Earth. A core value of the program is inclusivity, with a strong commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and accessibility in outdoor education. The staff comprises experienced educators passionate about mentoring children in real-world nature skills and ecological stewardship. All activities take place on the traditional homelands of Indigenous tribes, and the program actively honors these connections through land acknowledgments and learning from Indigenous educators.
