About this program
Brave Nature Collaborative is an outdoor learning commons serving families in the Greater New Haven, Connecticut area since 2023. Operating as a 501(c)(3) organization, the program creates space for learning rooted in relational consent, community care, and deep connection to the land. The collaborative gathers primarily at Edgerton Park in New Haven, offering year-round outdoor programming in all weather conditions. The program's philosophy centers on children's liberation and sovereignty, grounded in the belief that all beings deserve dignity, autonomy, and care. Rather than delivering conventional curriculum, Brave Nature Collaborative trusts children to lead their own learning journeys through consent-based practices and authentic relationships. The organization positions itself as both an alternative to conventional schooling and a complement to homeschooling, emphasizing that nature itself is the teacher and that learning emerges from trust between children, caregivers, and the land they share together.
