About this program
Escola Lá Fora is a social impact project offering nature-based education through the Forest School model across four locations in Portugal: Lisbon, Almada, Ericeira, and Estoril. The school responds to the needs of children and families with an innovative educational approach that brings proven benefits to children's physical and psychological health. All activities take place in natural contexts—woods and forests—where children develop deep connections with nature while learning about biodiversity and environmental respect. The Forest School methodology emphasizes child-centered learning focused on individuality and the importance of free-range play through observation, collaboration, exploration, and discovery. The program helps children become more confident, resilient, creative, and develop problem-solving skills through challenges like tool use, shelter building, and natural space exploration.
