About this program

Lumina Education is a new bilingual school opening in September 2025 in El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, Spain — a beautiful coastal town in the Bay of Cádiz, just 10 minutes from the beach. The school blends Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches with modern educational research to create what they call child-led, relationship-centred education. The philosophy centers on children being competent, curious, and capable learners. Learning happens through meaningful, hands-on experiences connected to the real world. Classrooms are designed as the "third teacher" with beautiful, organized natural materials, and children have agency and choice within a carefully prepared environment. Lumina offers bilingual English-Spanish immersion, mixed-age classrooms, and a strong emphasis on emotional intelligence alongside academics. As they put it: "We don't just teach subjects — we nurture thinkers, creators, and compassionate human beings."
