About this program
Unschool Adventures creates transformative international travel experiences for self-directed teenagers. Founded in 2008 by Blake Boles, the organization has been helping young people build new friendships, unforgettable memories, and the confidence to lead an unconventional life for over 15 years. Based in Michigan and operating globally, Unschool Adventures designs unique, one-time-only trips that keep things fresh for both participants and leaders. While the programs primarily attract unschoolers—young people with significant freedom to design their own educations—they welcome homeschoolers, alternative school students, and any teen passionate about travel. Each applicant is personally interviewed to ensure motivated, prepared, and conscientious participants, creating a high-quality experience for everyone involved. The organization partners with Not Back to School Camp and The High Desert Center, sharing connections within the broader self-directed education community.
