About this program
Boulder Journey School is a private early childhood education center located in Boulder, Colorado, housed in a 17,000 square foot facility at 1919 Yarmouth Ave. The school welcomes over 200 children and their families, operating 8.5 hours a day, five days a week, year-round. What makes Boulder Journey School unique is its deep inspiration from the world-renowned Reggio Emilia schools of Italy, combined with the educational approaches of Boulder-based educators Frances and David Hawkins. The school's philosophy centers on a contextual curriculum that emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and community. Rather than following a standardized path, learning happens in relation to experiences, environment, relationships, family, and culture. The facility features 14 classrooms, an art studio, a materials studio, and a theater, with all classrooms opening to outdoor learning areas. The school values both children's and adults' learning equally, positioning itself as an internationally recognized leader in early childhood education innovation.
